2005A rectangular metalic free standing sign supported in a blue plastic base. Both sides of the sign have the same text.
The top has rounded edges, with a handhold for transporting the sign. The sign is divided into three sections, a white horizontal strip with four sponsors names; [Leisure Institute of W.A. Next is a yellow strip with red lettering: [LIFEGUARDS ARE / NOW TARGETING] with a red and yellow chequered strip below and along the base, a white strip for adding information regarding the targeted behaviour for the day.
The item was acquired from the Armadale Aquatic Centre before renovations were started in 2017. The Centre was opened in December 1980.
The sign was used by the Aquatic Centre to promote pool safety and was supplied by the Royal Life Saving Society and its supporters. Staff at the Aquatic Centre would write on the board safety messages such as 'Drowing kids make no noise!!!'

MEDIUM
This collection of items was used at the Armadale Aquatic Centre. The Centre was opened in December 1980 and was closed in 2017 to make way for the new Armadale Fitness and Aquatic Centre which was opened in 2019. These items were collected as they represent the important role played in the social life of the local community and what was involved for a local government in running a public pool.
