DIVING STAND
A light blue fibreglass lid, with a lip around the top, bolted onto a metal frame. The edges of the lip are slotted into a white rim. Both sides of the lip have a wider section with a white 4 inside a black circle, to distinguish the different lanes.
Most of the framework is tubular metal. It is longer at the back, with two bolts for fixing, and has a lip on the front to hold the stand in place.
The item was acquired from the Armadale Aquatic Centre before renovations were started in 2017. The Centre originally opened in December 1980.
The stand was placed at the shallow end of the 50m outdoor pool during competitions and training. They were later discontinued for health and safety reasons as it was deemed unsafe to encourage swimmers to dive into the shallow end of the pool.

MEDIUM
This collection of items was used at the Armadale Aquatic Centre. The Centre was opened in December 1980 and was closed in 2017 to make way for the new Armadale Fitness and Aquatic Centre which was opened in 2019. These items were collected as they represent the important role played in the social life of the local community and what was involved for a local government in running a public pool.
