Overview

A black and white photograph of a Metters type 'K' windmill and a 4000 gallon concrete water storage tank. The battery of taps is faintly visible to the left and at the foot of the windmill. A dry stone wall is visible to the left side of the photograph and a low brick wall, with two stacked piles of bricks are visible on the right. There are a few sparse trees growing nearby.

REVERSE: Handwritten in blue ink: 'No: 4'.
Upside down and underneath is a purple ink stamp 'ANAND STUDIO,/ Specialists in/ Portraits & Group Photo's/ Gurdwara Road, Karol Bagh, Delhi.'

Historical information

This windmill together with the storage tank and taps, was erected at the village of Jatheri, India by Messrs E.M. Wallcock and Mohatta Ltd at the request of the United States Technical Cooperation Mission to act as a model water supply to villages.
