Visit of Duke and Duchess of York
c. 1901A sepia photograph of a decorated archway above a road. The arch consists of two rectangular frames which are decorated with sheafs of wheat and joined across the road with a banner which reads "WELCOME TO KATANNING". Above this banner is a single furrow plough with a sheaf of wheat. At the top of the left frame is an Australian flag and in the centre of the flag is a circle which has a black swan in it. On the right frame is a Union Jack flag and in the centre of the flag is a circle which has a lion in it.
A royal visit from the Duke and Duchess of York 1901 along Austral Terrace Katanning and a welcome arch.

On the back of the photograph handwritten in blue ink is "?Governor General" and in red ink "?DUKE & DUTCHESS OF YORK".
