The Burns dinner is a celebration of the life and poetry of Robert Burns and is held near the poets birthday, the 25 January. Burn Dinners or suppers date back to 1801 and traditional feature the reading of Burn's poetry, eating haggis, drinking Scotch whisky and often end with a dance.
