Statement of significance

MEDIUM
The banner used at Karragullen Primary School from the early 1990s to its closure in 1999. The banner was made by All Flags in Gosnells. It represents the end of a number of small hill schools in the late 1990s who due to low student numbers and cost cutting measures by the State government were closed. The banner tells the story of the changing nature of small rural communities who had their own school but changing demographics and economic pressures saw schools like Karragullen close with students being funnelled into larger district schools.
