c. 1910Front: Black and white studio portrait on postcard mount of Gilbert Roberts as a young man. The photo is of the upper half of the body and in an oval shape, with the young man wearing a light waistcoat under a dark coat, a stiff high collar with dark tie.
Reverse: Postcard print. Hadwritten 'Gilbert Wilfred Roberts 177 Hamersley'
He was the son of Thomas Gilbert and Maud Mary (nee Dixon) Roberts. Gilbert was born in Victoria (possibly Stawell) on 31st July, 1885. When his father died of hydatids, his mother came to W.A. with her two children, Gilbert and Mabel. Gilbert married Hilda Dorcas Attwell, from Fremantle, on 6th May 1920 and they bought a spec. house at 177 Hamersley Road, then bought the corner house, No. 173 Hamersley Road where his mother and unmarried sister Mabel came to live in 1923. Gilbert Wilfred Roberts worked for Goode Durrant & Murray, and died 20th July 1949, aged 63 years. See also P95.13
