TOY: KALIEDESCOPE
c. 1910Flat, rectangular wooden base with corners angled at one end. On one face the long sides have extra pieces of wood glued on to provide a recess. In this recess is a circle of brass nailed to the base and rising upward to provide a circular metal frame for glass with regular geometric patterning in blue, red and yellow. From this mounted circle a handle arises and extends beyond the wooden base to a small knob. When this knob is turned the coloured glass disc rotates as does another, identical one, which lies behind the first but in an opposite direction. The crossing of the geometric patterns makes a variety of designs.
