Photograph - Merry Go Round, Point Walter
Photograph of group of people riding on merry-go-round at Point Walter. The merry-go-round has exposed wood spokes as there is no roof covering. To the right there is a tram carriage behind the merry-go-round.
The merry-go-round was built in 1918 at Point Walter by Percy Wright. Originally it had just twelve horses and two boats and was powered by steam. In 1947, it was purchased for £1600 by the Perth Zoo, converted to an electric motor and was increased to 20 horses and two boats.
