About organisation
The City of Melville Museums & Local History sector has several collections that contain amazing digital archives of images, objects, maps, documents and oral histories that record Melville’s history. These include Heathcote and Melville Municipal collections, in addition to oral histories, photographs, written records and archives.
The Local History Service collects and preserves historical information at AH Bracks Library + Creative Space, and is staffed by our Local History Officer on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Collection overview
The City of Melville Municipal collection (including Archives, Sound and Vision and Photographic) explores the social history of the City of Melville. The collection represents the stories of local residents, organisations, events, places and businesses.
The Heathcote Museum Collection explores the medical history of the site. After the closure of the Point Heathcote Reception Centre in 1994, the City of Melville commenced discussions with the State Government to restore the site for the people of Western Australia. The land is part of a heritage precinct of conserved and reused buildings.
