Overview

The image features the Subiaco Municipal Chambers in Rokeby Road. The pavement in front of the building is unpaved, and there is a pile of paving stones at the extreme right of the image. A motor vehicle is parked in front of the door. The brick building has four arched windows, two each on either side of the double front door. There is an ornate parapet at the top of the buildilng with a concrete gable in the middle. Pillars on either side of the front door have carvings at the top in the shape of a cross. Attached to each pillar is a notice board. The writing on the windows to the right of the door can be clearly distinguished: Subiaco Municipal Chambers Office Hours Monday to Fridays 9 am to 4 pm Saturdays 9 am to 12 Noon. Subiaco Municipal Chambers Office of the Subiaco Municipal Electric Light Supply.

Historical information

: The original Subiaco Municipal Offices were built in Rokeby Road in 1897 and in July 1909 the stone of the Municipal Chambers was laid and this building was added to the existing offices. The Chambers originally housed both the Council Chambers and the Literary Institute.
