An Acacia (Jam tree) is seen to the right, with a grove of trees in the background. Part of a post and rail fence is to the left of the sandalwood tree.
In the last quarter of 1847 all licences for cutting sandalwood were issued for either York or Toodyay districts. Between the 1845 and 1862, 432,857 tons of sandalwood was exported from the state.
Sandalwood cutting continued to be important in Toodyay during the 1800s.
