Overview

Circular jarrah stand on raised conical base, with recessed top to accept glass ashtray insert. Ashtray has indents to hold four cigarettes.

Historical information

The ashtray was used at a wine saloon located on Third Road in Armadale. It was owned by Wally Mitchell. The ashtray was given to Pam Herbert as a souvenir by her friend Kath Mitchell, who was related to Wally Mitchell. In 2013, a car park was located where the store used to be. The ashtray represents a time when it was socially acceptable to smoke in public indoor venues, a practice that is no longer socially acceptable or legal.
