Overview

An example of Moose hair tufting a technique of handcraft unique to a very small group of indigenous women of the South Slave region in northwest territories of Canada.
The finished handcraft may be used to decorate slippers, muluks (seal skin boots), pictures or as souvenir items. The process of this handcraft is described in the attached notes (Snowshoe Inn, Fort Providence, Canada)

This sample represents a colourful daisy created from dyed moose hair tufted in bright colours of pink, purple, yellow, white and green onto a background of turquoise velvet. The velvet is backed by a piece of sturdy cotton canvas.
