HMAS Anzac New Generation Frigate Booklet

Photos of each ship at sea are included. On the back cover is a table with technical details of the 3 ships: length, beam, draught, displacement, complement, machinery, speed, range and armament. The ship’s crest and motto (“United We Stand”) appear at the top of the table.
Three ships have borne the name Anzac. The first was a Royal Navy Marksman Class Destroyer Leader commissioned on 24 April 1917, based at Scapa Flow before being transferred to the Royal Australian Navy and re-commissioned on 27 January 1920. The ship was decommissioned on 20nd August 1931 AND sold for scrap in August 1935. The hulk was scuttled in the Tasman Sea off Port Jackson on 7 May 1936.
The second HMAS Anzac (059) was the first major warship built in Australia after the Second World War and was commissioned on 14 March 1951. She was decommissioned in 1974 and sold to be broken up in 1975 by the Hifirm Corporation of Hong Kong.
HMAS Anzac III (FFH 150) was built in Williamstown (Victoria), commissioned on 18 May 1996 and was the lead ship of the ten frigates built for the Royal Australian Navy. HMAS Anzac III was decommissioned on 18 May 2024 at HMAS Stirling naval base in Western Australia.

HMAS Anzac III visited Albany (Western Australia) on a numerous occasions, including taking part in the 2014 commemoration of the convoys leaving Albany (Western Australia) in the First World War.
