Historical information

This excercise was used by the donor in 1967 while he was in the fifth year of his automotive apprenticeship at Carlisle Technical School.

As part of their studies students were required to take notes copied from the board or dictated by the lecturer. Notes would then be transcribed into the "good book" which was then submitted to the lecturer for marking. The other part of their studies was a three hour essay assessment that was comprised of mechanical and electrical components.

The mechanical notes and diagrams are on the right pages from the front and the book has been turned around so the electrical notes are starting from the back.

A few of the middles pages have been used by the donor to prepare for the end of year test by memorising wiring diagrams and other subjects. This activity was done while he was commuting from his home in Armadale and to his workplace in East Perth.

Statement of significance

MEDIUM
An excercise book with notes taken by the donor who was an automotive apprentice in 1967. He kept the excercise book in his possession until the date of donation.

The notes were taken in an era where students would write handwritten notes from a board or direct dictation from the lecturer.

Not many notebooks containing this kind of information and from this era would have survived. Some of the notes shows some changes from automotive generators to alternators.
