DOLL: SMALL, STUFFED CALICO WITH PAINTED WOOD FACE AND CROCHET CLOTHES

Overview

a) Small stuffed calico doll with wooden face. The face is handpainted with blue eyes, freckles and a little pink smile. Wearing cream crocheted clothing, including a newsbot hat which is attached to her head. She has short blonde hair in a bob style cut. Chocolate brown boots are painted on.

b) Top: cream crochet, with collar and satin bow around the neck. Button closure at the back, 4 cream buttons.

c) Trousers: cream crochet with cream satin ribbon as a belt.

d) Coat: cream crochet

The doll belonged to Diana Hislop, bought from a teddy bear shop in Hay Street in the 1990s. She sat with Diana's small collection of dolls and teddy bears.

The doll belonged to Diana Hislop and sat with her small collection of dolls and teddy bears. Purchased in 1993? (donor wrote that she purchased the doll '30 years ago' in 2023). Bought at The Teddy Bear Shop (permanently closed since circa 2000) which was located at 434 Hay Street.
