Historical information

Ride to the other side was a fundraiser created by the Rotary Club of Armadale to raise funds for it's different charity organisations. The idea was created when Craig Alford - Rotary District 9465 Assistant Governor - toured a US mower plant and decided that riding a Hustler Super Z mower around Australia would be a way to bring attention to the charities and raise money.
In 2012 the ride began in Armadale travelling to Kalgoorlie taking six days, in 2013 the ride began in Kalgoorlie travelling to Adelaide in South Australia which took 12 days. In 2014 the ride to the other side team travelled from Adelaide to Sydney NSW via Victoria and Tasmania taking 22 days.
In 2015 the ride travelled from Junee NSW to Darwin NT via Queensland, taking 35 days to reach their destination In 2016 the circle was completed, with the journey from Katherine NT to Perth WA taking 25 days
A additional trip was made from Armadale to Bunbury WA in 2016, to raise funds to aid in the recovery efforts after fires in the South West region in 2016. This trip was called the South West Fire Run.
The wrist bands were sold as a way to raise money during the ride. This wrist band was collected by Garry Smith the owner and chef of the Manse who was part of the road crew in 2012 and 2013 supporting the trips from Perth to Kalgoorlie and then onto Adelaide.
