The sign was created by the City of Armadale in compliance with health instructions from the Western Australian Government designed to reduce the spread of Covid-19. The sign was placed on play equipment at Apex Park in Armadale in March 2020. The sign was torn from the play equipment either buy a community member to bad weather in April 2020.
Covid 19 is a strain of Coronavirus, not previously detected in humans and was first detected in mainland China in December 2019. Due to the fact it was a new virus, no community immunity existed causing a rapid spread of the virus in communities it came in contact with throughout the world.
In January 2020, Australia had it's first confirmed case of Coronavirus, with Western Australia having its first case in February 2020.
City of Armadale began taking part in lock down measures in the community under the guidance of the State and Federal governments guidelines in March 2020, shutting down community area and only allowing essential services to be opened. Gradual reopening started in late April 2020, with restrictions on gatherings and businesses gradually lifting in phases as dictated by the State government recommendations based on WA Health Department advice.

This poster was created by the City Of Armadale to be placed near public gathering sites such as playgrounds, outdoor gym areas and other City of Armadale recreation locations with public equipment. The purpose was to request potential carriers of the COVID - 19 virus to not enter and risk spreading the virus. This sign was placed on play equipment at Apex Park in Kelmscott in March 2020.
