Overview

Original poster advertising the 1987 movie 'The Lighthorsemen' mounted on an MDF backing board.
The centre of the poster depicts 4 Light Horse troopers on their horses dressed in full uniform including rifles, Sam Browne belts and slouch hats with emu plumes. The background at the top of the poster shows a distant line of horses and troopers on the horizon with either a sunrise or sunset behind. In this lighter area of sky are the signatures of two of the main actors (Sigrid Thornton and Peter Phelps) written in black felt pen.
The bottom of the poster is dark brown in colour and has white text including the movie title, names of the cast and crew, and publishing details.

Historical information

'The Lighthorsemen' was a film produced by several international film companies in association with the Australian Film Commission, Film Victoria and the South Australian Film Corporation. It was released in Australia on 10 September 1987.
It featured many of Australia's best known actors of the time, including Jon Blake, Peter Phelps,Tony Bonner, Bill Kerr, John Walton, Gary Sweet, Tim McKenzie, Sigrid Thornton and Anthony Andrews.
