SILVER $1 COIN YEAR OF THE ROOSTER 2005
2005A circular silver coin with a rooster in front of some vegetation as the central motif.
On the left edge of the coin written vertically is the year [2005]. On the right to the monkey is the Chinese character for rooster.
On the bottom edge of the coin there is [1 OZ 999 SILVER].
Forming a border between the rim of the coin and the centre of the coin is a band of black with raised bumps. This is the same on the reverse side.
The reverse side has a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II looking to the viewers right wearing a crown. Around the edges of this portrait in a circular manner are the words [Elizabeth II] [AUSTRALIA] [1 DOLLAR]. Beneath the portrait are the initials [IRB].
The coin is in a clear plastic case.
Chinese New Year is celebrated with a different animal each year. 2005 was the year of the rooster. This coin was part of the Australian Lunar Series and was struck at the Perth Mint in 2005. It was part of a framed certificate presented to the City of Armadale for its support of the Armadale Business Awards.
