Overview

A silver one dollar with the central motif of a kangaroo holding a football while standing in the foreground. The background consists of a stump, two clouds, a tree and a house.

Underneath the kangaroo is the marker's mark [Reg M] and the word [one dollar] in a cursive font.

On the obverse side is a portrait of Queen Elizabeth the Second with [Elizabeth II] on the left perimeter of the coin and on the right is [AUSTRALIA 2008]. Underneath the portrait of the Queen are the letters [IRB].

The coin is in a clear plastic case.

Historical information

This coin was minted in 2008 by the Perth Mint and was part of the Australian Artist Series of collectable coins. It was part of a framed certificate presented to the City of Armadale for its support of the Armadale industry and Commerce Awards.

Minted by the Perth Mint as part of the Australian Artists Series of coins to celebrate Australian artists. The artist, Reg Mombassa, was born in New Zealand before moving to Australia where he gained success as an artist and musician.

The coin was presented as part of a framed certificate of appreciation to the City of Armadale for its support of the Armadale Industry and Commerce Awards in 2008.
