Handi Pumpless Iron
c. 1932 - 1950An iron with a red painted wooden handle, otherwise all metal apart from two Bakelite knobs. There is a globe shaped cylinder to hold the fuel, a pipe leading from it and coiled into the base of the iron. There is a knob attached to the end of the iron to control the flame. The knob on top of the iron is to allow the top of the iron to be removed and ignite the flame.

On the top of the iron near the front underneath the handle is etched a "H".
The iron has a brass plate underneath the handle which reads "ALL BRITISH", underneath is "PUMPLESS IRON", underneath is "MANUFACTURED BY " , underneath is "HANDI WORKS", UNDERNEATH IS "BRISBANE". In the centre of the plate is a shield with another shield and at the top is "TRADE MARK", underneath is "H' and underneath is "PRODUCT". On the other side of the trademark is "PATENT No 103930", underneath is "DES. No. 10810", underneath is "REG. No. 63673" and underneath is "FOR BEST RESULTS USE SHELLITE".
On each of the black Bakelite knobs is embossed "CLOSE HANDI" and an arrow indicating the direction to close the knob.
