Overview

A coloured photo of a large group of children in mostly period clothes (the girls in frilled caps and bonnets) sitting on the ground in Stirling Terrace with a male teacher with gown and mortar board upon his head.
Adults surround the group in various mode of dress and behind them is the 'upstairs downstairs' verandah of the Victoria Hotel and other buildings beyond.

Historical information

Possibly part of the 'Back to Toodyay' week held between 4th &10th June 1979. On Friday 8th June a 'Back to Toodyay Schools' day was held, as well as a Farmers' Market, historical pageant and school historical displays.
After a Toodyay Museums Facebook post in August 2019 requesting information about people in the photo, the following names have been put forward by various respondents to the post. Correct identification & spelling of names to be confirmed:-
Joan Syred, Suzanne Popic, Sue Pearce, Craig Walton, Emily McDermott (at far left), Robin Phillips (front row), Cathy Mathews, Cindy Williamson, Tanya Popic, Tania Pecnic (same person as previous listing or different?), Anne Ryder, Mr Kobalinski? or Mr Booklar (the man in the braces & with a beard), Murray Clarke, Mr JR Milne (Principal, in grey suit), Tony Popic, Shelly Dival, Warwick Woods, Craig Walton, Paul Harders, Les Brown, Joan Carr, Glynn Dyer? (lady on far left in white cap), Rod Lance (man in white top hat).
