Second World War ‘Australian Military Forces’ Brass Buttons as collected by Sapper Charles Kingsley MOHR, WX26433
1939 - 1945Three (3) medium size brass military uniform buttons. Each button has a curved face with an embossed Imperial Crown at the top with a map of Australia below. “AUSTRALIAN MILITARY FORCES” is embossed around the edges of each button face. All three (3) badges have a shank on the reverse side. Two (2) of the badges have “A. J. PARKES” embossed around the edge of the reverse side, while the third (3rd) button has “BENTLEY MELB”.
Brass buttons were manufactured by companies in both Great Britain and Australia during the First and Second World Wars. A. J. Parkes (Brisbane) was awarded government contracts for buttons and badges for the Boer War and both World Wars. Bentley and Sons (Melbourne) were manufacturers of buttons and badges.

These badges were souvenired by Kingsley Charles MOHR (WX26433), who enlisted at Guildford on 9 August 1941. A Sapper in the Australian Mechanical Equipment Company he spent 1495 days on Active Service in Australia and 625 days on Overseas Service from September 1943 – August 1944 and 10 March – 6 December 1945 before being discharged at Karrakatta in Western Australia on 24 January 1946. MOHR had lived in Denmark, Western Australia, before enlisting and returned there after the war.
