Navy Day 1918 Official fundraising collector's badge
Circular cream card with navy blue border, illustration and text issued to official fundraising collectors in South Australia during World War One.
It features an anchor motif in the centre, above which is the text 'NAVY DAY OFFICIAL' and below the date 'OCTOBER 25 1918'.
There is a circle punched into the top of the card through which a pin or cord could be threaded for attachment.
The reverse of the card is plain.
The Navy League (South Australian Branch) held a Navy Button Day on Friday 25 October 1918. Proceeds were in aid of the widows, orphans and dependants of the Men of the Fleet and King George's Sailors' Fund.
A Navy Market was held on North Terrace, where fresh produce, toys, picture frames, cakes, sweets, flowers, novelties, sailors' comforts and miscellaneous goods were sold. A Naval Procession also took place on North Terrace.
The Ladies' Button Committee conducted a street sale of buttons in the City of Adelaide and at Glenelg, Norwood, Unley, St. Peters, Port Adelaide, and Henley Beach.
