THE WEEPING ANGEL OF AMIENS, TRENCH ART, WOOD CARVING
c. 1918Square block of wood that has been naively hand carved in bas relief. It shows an angel with one elbow resting on a skull and the other hand resting on an hourglass. To The left of panel is carved "Amiens / LA / CATHEDRALE / MONUMENT / DE / L' ANGLE / PLEUREURl ". Carved beneath the angel is "AMIENS FRANCE / THE CRYING ANGEL ". To the right of panel "THE / GRAND / ALTER ". {sic} . Metal piece at centre top with which to hang it.
