Bull Harness for Marking Cows
c. 1930 - 1980A leather harness which holds a square metal container and in the middle of the metal container is a round metal ball which rolls.
This harness would have been strapped to the underside of a bull. Inside of the square metal container there would have been ink, which when a bull had mated with the cow would then have left a mark on the back of the cow. The harness holds a marking square which is 10cm by 10.4 cm with a ball in the middle of 2.3cm radius. By marking the cows in this manner a farmer was able to identify which cows in his herd had been 'mated' by the bull,
