Soccer Club Badge
1956A blue and white enamel pin badge, in the centre of the badge is a white soccer ball with gold lines representing the stitching lines on a soccer ball
Information provided by the donor:
'I played soccer in Italy and when I came to Kojonup, we formed a team and played against Katanning, Manjimup and Albany.
Then a woman’s team was formed, and they played very well and won most of their games.
I had a butcher’s shop, and I had a man working for me who had a stepson who was living in London and playing for a London soccer club. So I asked him to bring his stepson to Kojonup which eventually he did and we won most of our games with him playing for us.
Unfortunately, we went to Perth to play some soccer games and lost him to a Perth soccer club.
The soccer club was run for four years until I hurt myself and was unable to play. The other players went and joined the Katanning club as we didn’t have enough players to form a team.
I was a mid-fielder, so I scored goals as well as defended.
The soccer team played at the Kojonup Showgrounds in the area on the left-hand side when entering the grounds. We always had a good crowd, particularly when the women were playing.'
