Overview

Rectangular brass coloured base with a circle above incorporating the coat of arms of the City of Armadale, surrounded by text [CITY OF ARMADALE].

[FAYE / LIBRARY DEPARTMENT] is engraved on the base in black letters. On the back is a maker's mark and a vertical brass pin to attach to uniform.

Historical information

This badge was issued some time between 1985 and 2002 to Faye Clay who worked at the Armadale branch of the City of Armadale Library Services. Although Faye started working at the library in 1982, the Town of Armadale did not become the City of Armadale until 1985.

Statement of significance

This object is part of a collection of items that represent the role that local government has played in providing services to its local community. The City of Armadale was formed in 1894 as the Kelmscott Road Board and has grown from a time when it only provide roads and drains to today when the City provides a wide range of services including waste collection, libraries, museum, parks, sporting facilities, building licenses, environmental services, public events, street lighting, ranger services and community facilities.
