Overview

24ct gold plated teaspoon. Oval concave bowl that tapers into a flat neck that tapers out to the middle of the neck then tapers inwards to a rectangle handle with a rectangle colour enamel inlay. The inlay has text across the top and bottom, in the middle is an illustration of the Congregational Church, Original Armadale School building with the wood bridge across the Neerigen Brook. Text across top [CITY OF / ARMADALE], text across bottom [CENTENARY / 1894-1994]. Moulded floral design on middle of the spoon neck, where the neck joins the handle and at the top and sides of the handle. Moulded makers mark on back of the neck.

Historical information

This tea spoon was part of a suit of items produced by the City of Armadale to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the gazetting of the Kelmscott Road Board in 1894 that is today the City of Armadale. The spoon was made by Sonic Products. The 100th Anniversary included a variety of events from dinners to concerts held throughout the year. This spoon was purchased as a momentous of the event by Alf and Dorothy Cassely who were local residents.

Part of a collection of items produced to celebrate 100 years since the establishment of the Kelmscott Road Board in 1894 than has since grown with the local community and is today the City of Armadale. This collection is part of a larger collection of items that focuses on the history and impact of local government on the community. Local Government plays an important role in providing services to the local community and provides a snap shot into what issues are important to the local community.
