Overview

White long flannelette with pink Bambi and blue flowers embroidery down front centre. Small white crocheted edging around long sleeves and neck. Horizontal piece of fabric on front waist with ties that fasten at back. Drawstring around neck which ties at back. Opening at back.

Historical information

Belong to the Skeet family and would have been used by one or all of the four Skeet children, including Alfred George, Laura Gladys, Margery and Lilian Ursula when they were babies. The dres would have been made by either a family member or a friend from the Forrestdale community. George Dumsday the childrens grandfather was a trained and award winning draper.

Statement of significance

This item is linked to the Skeet family who were one of the first European families to settle in the Forrestdale area, where they raised four children by Forrestdale Lake. The Skeet family played a key role in the economic and social development of the area. This item would have been used by one or all of the four Skeet children, including Alfred George, Laura Gladys, Margery and Lilian Ursula when they were babies.
