PHOTO WOOD FRAME

Overview

Wood rectangle frame with curved top. Front has carved floral decoration at top and bottom of frame. Scalloped edging around outside of frame. Indented decoration on inside edge of frame. On back is a indentation on inside edge where glass, photograph and backing fits in place. Black text stamped on back at top inside a box [NUMBER / 57 73/6], left [MADE IN THE U.S.A.] and right side [PRICE OF FRAME / INCLUDING GLASS AND BACK ONLY / ONE PRICE - Cannot be altered or changed / WORKMANSHIP AND MATERIALS GUARANTEED]. Two eyelet screws, one on each side just above the centre line of the frame. Handing wire attached between the screws.

Historical information

Frames that housed a portrait photograph of Annie Maria Stinton and Harry Howard Stinton. The Stinton family owned a 100acre farm and orchard in Karragullen, called 'The Brook' which the Stinton Brook flowed through. Part of the farm is today the Araluen Botanic Park. Harry and Annie married in 1907 and had two children Kathleen, and Harold who served in World War One. They came to Western Australia via Queensland in the early 1900s
The portrait photographs are stored at the Birtwistle Local Studies Library (Annie FF14 and Harry FF15).
Annie died in 1919 aged 70, Howard had died in 1918 age 59.
