1971 Western Australian Claxton Shield Series baseball team
A photograph of the 1971 Western Australian baseball team who competed in the Australian Baseball Championship Claxton Shield Series held in Adelaide, South Australia. The black and white photo is mounted on light-grey cardboard. Printed above the photograph is the name of the competition, the series title, the host city, the year and the name of the team. Names of the team members and manager are printed below the photograph as well as the name of the photographer.
The 1971 Claxton Shield was the 32nd annual Claxton Shield, an Australian national baseball tournament. It was held in Adelaide. The hosts South Australia won their 13th Claxton Shield by defeating Victoria 6-2 before a crowd of 5000 at Adelaide Oval. This was the 10th time in the previous 15 years that South Australia won the championship.
