WOOD SAMPLES
Square slices of different woods with a small hole drilled through at one end as if for tying them all together. A piece of paper (varying sizes) is stuck on one side of each piece of wood. On each is printed the title 'Timbers of Western Australia' then the name of the particular timber and then a description. On the bottom left of nearly all the pieces of paper is a reference number (including slashes). (a-c) have the same number, (g) is different, (e,f) have a letter in front of the number and (d) has no number. Each piece of paper has been stamped in blue ink with 'Boy Scouts (___) Assn. 18th Group Boy Scouts Troop Shenton Park.
Items probably used to teach Scouts how to recognise different wood. Types of wood samples include: sheoak, bullich, marri, river banksia, tuart, native pear and red tingle.
