Original description reads:
Door and steps background left, window background right. 5 rows of children, front row of boys sitting on ground. Boy in middle holding a board with 'Vc' chalked on it. There is no teacher in the photograph. A girl on the left at the end of 3rd row nearest door is dressed in white. A girl on the right at the end of 3rd row, nearest window is dressed in a dark dress with big white buttons. On the reverse Ms Empsall has written the names of most of the children.
