MEN'S METROPOLITAN PENNANTS 1977

This series of photographs depicts several scenes of a 1977 men’s Metropolitan pennant match at MGGC. The people featured include Don Moran (Vice President), Bill Barnes (Captain), Laurie Johnston (Vice Captain), Brian Saunders (Handicapper), Richard Brain (Club Professional) and Fred Helfers (Secretary Manager).

Together, the images capture the intensity of the occasion, Melville being proud in its early years to be competing in Metropolitan pennants against other more experienced golf clubs.

Identification of individuals was assisted by captions written onto the back of the photographs. However, not all people have been named.

The photographs were removed from an album where they were adhered to the cardboard backing pages. The album contained several sets of photographs believed to have been taken by Geoff Holmes, MGGC President in 1976-77.
