Overview

Circular silver metal badge with voided centre containing a stylised, blue enamel soaring bird emblem. The broad silver border is inscribed with the words 'AIR DEFENCE CADET CORPS'.
The circular frame is attached to a laurel wreath which extends from the base almost all the way up both sides.
The reverse of the badge has two lugs through which a split pin would be threaded for attachment.
There are no maker's marks.

Historical information

The Air Defence Cadet Corps (A.D.C.C.) was formed in 1938 as the youth wing of the Air League of the British Empire. It was designed to prepare young men for aviation service before and during the onset of World War Two. It was taken under R.A.F. control in 1941, becoming the Air Training Corps (A.T.C.).
