Overview

Black and white photograph showing Metters' motor gate in shut position across a road. Two signs are affixed to the left gate posts. The top sign reads as follows: 'Manufactured by METTERS LTD. Showrooms 847-851 Hay St. Perth. Patent No. 10903 MOTORGATE Gate with hinges and bolts Pounds 7.10.0. Timbers extra. Diagram supplied showing layouts of timbers.' The lower sign reads: 'PATENT MOTOR GATE. SPEED LIMIT 4 miles. Motor pushes gate down and rides over it.' The gate has a metal frame with horizontal bars at the sides and 6 vertical spokes at the centre, the central 2 projecting high above the others. In the background are several old cars lined up next to the road and what appears to be weatherboard buildings on either side. See also P93_34.
