1965
Overview

Black and white photograph showing Wally Hughes at the microphone, delivering a speech at the opening of the new premises of Metters Ltd, which coincided with the 70th anniversary of the business. (Wally Hughes was the General Manager of Metters.) Among the guests seated on a small stage (which appears to be a verandah put to this purpose) is the Premier of WA, David Brand (4th from right). In front of the seated guests is a white metal table in front of which are two potted plants. There are several potted plants on either side of the stage. A gentleman is standing in a half open doorway in the background and the heads of some members of the audience are visible in the foreground. Above is a large sign which reads: 'OFFICIAL OPENING HERE 3 P.M. TODAY.' The proceedings were recorded on radio station 6KY, see its microphone with sign, on the table in front of the speaker.
