PHOTOGRAPH (COPY): METTER'S MOTOR GATE IN ACTION

Overview

The black and white photograph showing an early 1920's Dodge or Buick tourer (?) (note wooden spokes in wheels) standing at a Metters' motor gate erected outside. There is a building in the background at the left and a structure resembling a pedestrian overpass in the background at the right. Two signs are affixed to the upright gate posts. The lower sign reads as follows: 'PATENT MOTOR GATE - SPEED LIMIT 4 MILES - MOTOR PUSHES GATE DOWN AND RIDES OVER IT.' The upper sign states: 'MANUFACTURED BY METTERS LTD. SHOWROOMS 847-851 HAY ST, PERTH - PATENT NO. 10903, MOTOR GATE, GATES WITH HINGES AND BOLTS POUNDS 7.10.0. TIMBERS EXTRA.'
