c. 1900
Subcollections
Overview

Black and white photograph, thought to be between Nicholson Road and Heytesbury Road. Alternatively, Charles Yeates lived in Rokeby Road from 1899 (see PO directory), listed as cnr Keightley Rd by 1905 (ie 441 Rokeby). He was still listed there in 1915. Garden incomplete with young plants in bare earth. The ground in front of the fence is likewise bare. There are water tanks at the side of the house, on the left-hand side of the image. A verandah extends along the front of the house. A little girl in a wicker chair sits in front of open doors on the right, with a black dog with white paws lying next to her. Other doors, left of centre, are open; and as the doors on the other side of the house are open also, it is possible to see straight through to the garden behind. There are many tall trees in the background. Handwritten on back : C. Yates House, Rokeby Road, circa 1900 Printed from a negative taken from original held by Peet and Co.
