Midland Scottish Highland Pipe Band
1950 - 1960Drums belonging to a former member of the Midland Scottish Highland Pipe Band. There are two drums - one features red, brown, white and black colours and has metal tension rods. The second drum is tensioned by cords and features red, black, white and brown colours.
Drums belonged to a member of the Chalmer family who played with the Midland Junction Thistle Society, and the items were donated by a descendant of the family.

The second drum bears the word "Midland" and a thistle motif on the top of the drum.
Items have a strong association with the Midland Junction Thistle Society, a cultural, social, sporting and beneficent group which was at its zenith during the 1920s and 1930s. Items have a strong association with a family of standing in the cultural, social, sporting and beneficence spheres of the Midland Junction community in the 20th Century.
