Historical information

A commemorative badge made for the 25th anniversary of the opening of Karragullen Primary School in 1992. The school had its roots as a sawmill company school in the 1890s before a state school opened in 1913. In 1920 the school moved to Brookton Highway before the school was once again moved in 1967 to its last location.

It was around the 1910s the area moved away from timber felling and into developing orchards.

Karragullen Primary School was one of many small schools that existed in the hills of the City of Armadale area. Its closure was rationalised by the then Minister for Education Colin Barnett as a decline in student numbers. This was the fate of many other small schools in more rural areas of Western Australia.
