MAN IN ARMY UNIFORM, GEORGE CHITTY 1916
1916Black and white photograph, man in a Private's army uniform from World War One.
The trousers are below the knee length, jodhpurs style with gaiters from the ankle up and tight fitting over the shoe.
George Edward Chitty was born in 1892 in Toodyay and died, aged 25, on 13 June 1918 in France of gunshot wounds received accidentally in a training exercise.
He enlisted at age 23, Service No.: 4993. His rank was Private and he served in France and was wounded wounded in action before his death.

Written on reverse: "George Chitty (Barney) 1916, son of James and Mary, killed in France 1918. Left to his youngest sister Grace what is now known as Parkers Cottage. Grace married Syd Parker."
