The couple seen clearly in the foreground are in formal dress. The man is in a dinner suit and the lady in a long grey gown with sleeves with a lace trim at the neck and down towards the hemline.
Red & white streamers are draped to one side from the ceiling. A red & white barber's pole down the left side of stage and red & white balloons held to the ceiling. (Ball has a barbershop theme).

Historical information

Newcastle Balls in the 1980s were organised by the Toodyay Society, forerunner of the Toodyay Historical Society. The Toodyay Society held the Newcastle Ball annually in the years 1981-1986, and 1988.
