Historical information

In 1861 Henry Thomas Chitty (1848-1896) acquired Corendling Crown Grant 325 [or CG 315?] about 3 miles east of Mortingup and about 14 miles from Toodyay. It was bought for him on December 14 while he was still a minor. He had a good butt and shingle house built about 1880 and ran a mixed farm. There were no fences so Henry's family had to shepherd or mind his stock. Henry occasionally complained of heart trouble and on November 14, 1896, he went out after supper to feed his horse and did not return. He was found dead the next morning at a spot now marked by a stone.( ref: 'Toodyay, the good old days', Wally Chitty 2004, p.204)
