Overview

A black embossed leather and metal Brownie camera and spool box. There is a black leather strap on the top for a handle. The camera has a top and right side view finder, there is a metal winder on the right hand side. On the right hand side near the front of the camera is a metal lever which slides down to take the photograph.

Inscriptions and markings

Embossed on the leather strap is "BROWNIE".

Embossed on the back of the box is a circle, the lettering around the inner edge is "No 2A BROWNIE MADE IN U.S.A. BY EASTMAN KODAK ROCHESTER N.Y.". In the inner circle is embossed in three lines is "USE FILM", "No", "116".

On the inside of the back cover in nine lines of red stamped lettering is "No. 2A BROWNIE", "Mod. C", "Patented in", "U.S.A.", "Oct. 6, 1914", "Feb. 1, 1916", "Mar. 21, 1916", "Patents", "Pending".
