A wooden shield shaped trophy with a metal shield in the centre and six smaller shield plaques around the centre shield. The metal shield in the centre has etched lettering and two crossed hockey sticks. The wooden shield has a hinge at the back to stand it.

Inscriptions and markings

In the centre shield is etched "KATANNING SCHOOLS", and underneath two crossed hockey sticks. Underneath these sticks is "HOCKEY ASSOCIATION" and below is "Presented by " underneath is "A.THOMSON M.LA." and underneath this is "KATANNING STATE SCHOOL"

Starting from the top centre smaller metal shield and going clockwise, this shield is etched with "STATE SCHOOL A-Team 1927 J. PHELAN Capt", next shield is "STATE SCHOOL A-Team 1929 D. RANGOTT Capt", next shield is "STATE SCHOOL A-Team 1931 D. RANGOTT Capt", next shield is "STATE SCHOOL A-Team 1932 Merle Morrison Captain", next shield is "STATE SCHOOL A-Team 1930 D. RANGOTT Capt", and final shield is "STATE SCHOOL A-Team 1928 G. GILBERT",
