Historical information

This piece of paper was issued by the Armadale Police station during World War II for Carmel Florens who lived in Gosnells at the time of issue. This certificate allowed her to assist with the Air Raid Precautions. This involved making sure residents and businesses were complying with blackout instructions which were put in place due to a fear of potential air raids by Japanese forces. The card was issued by Roy Fletcher who was the local police officer in Armadale

HIGH Historic: example of authority given in local defence during WWII. All of Australia felt the threat of invasion during the war. Was signed by local policeman Roy Fletcher Provenance: Belonged to Roy Fetcher the local Armadale policeman and issued to Carmel Theresa May Florens to assist with air raid precaution. This object is part of collection with good provenance and interpretive potential that tells the story of the City of Armadale's connection to armed conflicts around the world from the late 1800s to today.
